Our Awesome God

It’s an amazing thing to ponder our eternal God, isn’t it? There’s such awe when we give thought to how mysterious and BEYOND our comprehension He is! All we can do is honor Him, obey Him, praise Him, exalt Him above all things. Such small offerings compared to His glory…yet this is what He desires and He is pleased by it.Walking_On_Water_00039716

Here are some passages from the Word to remind us how beyond our realm of thought He is … and then we’ll look at the miracle and beauty of a relationship with Him.

Job 11:7-9

“Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens above—what can you do? They are deeper than the depths below—what can you know? Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea.”

Psalm 139:6

“Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.”

John 21:25

“And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which, if they were written one by one, I suppose not even the world itself could contain the books that would be written.”

Jesus – Whom God sent to reveal His previously hidden plan of redemption to us…to dwell with us – did more than we can fathom.

1 Corinthians 2:7-10

“But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written, ‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him’— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.”

Somehow God, through His Spirit, reveals to us what He desires … His holy thoughts & His righteous plans! Amazing.

1 Corinthians 13:12

“…now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.”sunset

Even what we can see now is a shadow compared to what will be.

Seeking after Him can NEVER be insufficient for our lives! It’s impossible. There’s too much of Him for us to ever come to the end of who He is. His grace and sacrifice appears so much bigger somehow when we gaze upon how much He humbled Himself.

The 1 Corinthians, chapter 2 passage above, goes on to talk about spiritually being stuck on baby’s milk when real food awaits. I desire the depths. The depths of God seen in His Son Jesus. Don’t we all? He has revealed Himself so our finite minds can comprehend what it is to be His child! To be loved. To be sought. To be saved. To be forgiven. To be comforted. To be taught. To have peace. To serve well. To know Him. All from the King of all kings – the Lord of Glory! The Creator of whole galaxies not yet seen!

I imagine when we’re with God in glory, we’ll recognize how crippled our human thoughts were and marvel that God could impart His glorious plans to us at all. He is good. We do not deserve Him. But He opens His arms to embrace. He reclaimed through Jesus what we rejected long ago … a Relationship for His glory. This whole thing – this whole life; it’s about Him.

Turn your eyes upon JESUS.
Look full in His wonderful face.
And the things of earth
Will grow strangely DIM.
In the LIGHT of HIS GLORY and GRACE

Truly, the “things of earth will grow strangely dim” when we look fully into His amazing face. All of them: our dreams apart from Him, our possessions, our accomplishments, our navel gazing, etc. WE, Ladies, are blessed and loved beyond measure. All for His sake!
